Cuisinart Crepe Maker CPP-200 Review
My kids have been having a blast with the Cuisinart Crepe/Pizzelle/Pancake Maker CPP-200. We go through at least one box a week of our favorite Trader Joe’s Belgian butter waffle cookies, so when this crepe maker arrived I immediately tested the pizzelle cookie setting. The results were excellent: crisp, thin, buttery, and just the right amount of sweetness.
We experimented with flavors, using classic vanilla and a fragrant cardamom extract that made an especially delicious batch. The pizzelle setting produces cookies that are uniformly thin and crisp, and the machine is fast enough that we ended up making several batches in one sitting. The removable, nonstick plates meant cleanup was quick after the kitchen session.
After the pizzelle experiment I wanted to try something savory: Chinese green onion pancakes. These flatbreads are chewy, layered, and savory—more like Indian flatbreads than American-style pancakes. Traditionally they’re pan-fried in oil on the stovetop, but I wanted to see how they would turn out on the Cuisinart crepe maker.
My mom helped roll the dough and we prepared the pancakes as we would for a skillet, lightly brushing the lower plate with oil, placing the rolled pancake on the plate, and brushing a little oil on top before closing the lid. The crepe maker’s built-in timer beeped when the cycle completed, and we opened the lid to check the first pancake.

At first glance my mom and I hesitated—visually the pancake seemed different from the skillet version. I even reached for a skillet to finish the rest the traditional way. My dad urged us to try a piece first, and when we did it was a revelation: the crepe maker produced crunchy, ultra-thin layers that were wonderfully crisp and flavorful.
The boys came down the stairs drawn by the aroma and kept grabbing piece after piece. The CPP-200 crisps both sides simultaneously and uses much less oil than pan-frying—only a quarter teaspoon versus a tablespoon—so while you won’t get the same chewy interior of a skillet-fried pancake, you do get incredibly thin, flaky, crunchy layers that are delicious in their own right. Both cooking methods have their merits, and I enjoyed the unique texture the crepe maker produced.

More thoughts on the Cuisinart Crepe Maker
The CPP-200 is versatile and user-friendly. Plates remove easily for cleaning, they’re nonstick, and are dishwasher-safe, which saves time after busy cooking sessions. The unit comes with small tongs, a cone mold for waffle cones, and a scoop. I found the included scoop awkward, so I used a one-tablespoon melon-baller which released batter more smoothly and consistently. The built-in beeping timer is a simple but appreciated feature that helps you avoid overcooking.
Another useful aspect is that the crepe maker opens flat, giving you two cooking surfaces at once. That makes it easy to prepare multiple flatbreads—naan, tortillas, arepas, or similar items—without needing to reposition or flip them. For quick breakfast crepes, pizzelle cookies, or experimenting with flatbreads, the CPP-200 proved flexible and dependable in our kitchen.

Overall impressions: the Cuisinart CPP-200 delivers consistent results across sweet and savory recipes. It crisps both sides evenly, reduces oil usage for items typically pan-fried, and cleans up easily thanks to the removable plates. It’s quick to heat, the timer is helpful, and the included accessories are mostly useful (with a small personal preference for a different scoop). At this time I can’t think of any significant drawbacks for our household’s use.
We’ll publish the full green onion pancake recipe with step-by-step photos soon as we finalize the process, but the crepe maker is already a permanent part of our kitchen for both quick sweets and creative flatbreads.
