Banana Cupcakes with Honey-Cinnamon Frosting

Banana cupcakes

I made and posted about these banana cupcakes before when I first started this blog. I baked them again today for my son Sammy’s preschool birthday celebration and thought it was a good time to share the recipe with new readers. The original post and full recipe are available here.

These cupcakes are truly one of my favorites. I first found the recipe in Everyday Food magazine a few months ago, and have been making them regularly ever since. They turn out incredibly moist with a tender, muffin-like crumb that makes them hard to resist. The blend of banana with a hint of honey and cinnamon gives them a warm, comforting flavor that appeals to both kids and adults.

For parties like a preschool celebration, they’re ideal: easy to transport, simple to serve, and generally well-liked by a wide range of palates. If you’re planning to take them to an event, store them in an airtight container to keep them soft and fresh. They’re delicious served at room temperature; if you prefer, warm them lightly for a minute or two to release the banana aroma. While the recipe stands beautifully on its own, these cupcakes also pair nicely with a light cream cheese frosting, a drizzle of honey, or a dusting of cinnamon sugar for a little extra flair.

Today is packing day for our family: we leave tomorrow for a week on Sanibel Island. This trip has been on the calendar for months, and I’m especially excited because it will be our first visit to the island with the kids. I’m looking forward to relaxed days on the beach building sandcastles, searching for shells, taking bike rides, and swimming in the pool. A week away from the usual routine is always a welcome chance to recharge, enjoy simple outdoor fun, and explore local restaurants and cafes.

Part of the appeal of a vacation like this is a break from the kitchen, but I also enjoy seeing local food scenes and bringing home ideas and inspiration. If I find any memorable dishes or great spots to eat, I’ll share those discoveries when I return.

With hurricane and storm season always on my mind, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the weather stays calm and clear for everyone. I hope any storms remain far away from Florida and other coastal areas this season.

I’ve scheduled a few posts for next week, so you should still see updates even while we’re away—fingers crossed I set the dates correctly. Also, a reminder about my Food and Football event: there’s a little over a week left until the deadline. If you’ve been working on a recipe, please email it to me before the cutoff; I’ll collect submissions when I return.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
