Crispy panko-fried chicken layered with crunchy Caesar salad is sandwiched between two slices of garlicky, buttery Texas toast. This Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich delivers a mix of bold flavors and contrasting textures — crunchy, creamy, and savory — all in one satisfying handheld meal.

Caesar salad wraps and sandwiches have been trending, and this version brings a slightly over-the-top, restaurant-style approach you can recreate at home. The combination of a crunchy panko crust, creamy Caesar dressing, crisp romaine, shaved Parmesan and toasty garlic bread is addictive and easy to customize.
This sandwich is versatile. If you prefer not to pan-fry, swap the chicken for grilled or pan-seared breasts. Use a store-bought Caesar dressing if you’re short on time — though the homemade dressing is quick and worth the effort.
Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwiches
The dressing is the star of this sandwich. You can use store-bought Caesar dressing, but making a simple homemade version with mayonnaise, Dijon, Worcestershire, lemon, garlic and plenty of freshly grated Parmesan will elevate the sandwich. If you don’t like anchovies, leave them out — the dressing still tastes great.
Panko-breaded chicken gives the sandwich an extra-crisp bite. If you prefer a lighter option, grilled chicken also pairs beautifully with the Caesar salad and toasted bread.
When preparing this recipe, measure the breading ingredients in advance and make the dressing a day ahead if possible. A little prep goes a long way when you’re ready to assemble — especially if hunger sets in!

Key Ingredients
- Chicken – thin-sliced chicken cutlets or thinly sliced breasts work best for even cooking.
- Caesar dressing – mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, garlic, freshly grated Parmesan, salt and pepper. Anchovy paste is optional.
- Texas toast – garlic-butter flavored frozen Texas toast (brands like New York or Pepperidge Farm are common choices).
- Cheese – mild sandwich-sliced cheese such as Monterey Jack, mozzarella, Havarti or pepper jack.
- Romaine – chopped romaine lettuce for the salad.
- Parmesan – shaved or grated Parmesan for topping the salad.
- Croutons – crushed croutons for crunch in the salad.
- Panko breadcrumbs – for an extra-crispy coating.
- Flour, eggs, milk – used together to bread the chicken.
- Seasonings – garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
- Oil – for frying. Omit if grilling the chicken instead.

How to Make Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich
Prep the Dressing
Combine all dressing ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. Transfer the dressing to an airtight container and refrigerate. It can be made a few days in advance and will keep in the fridge for 4–5 days.

Bread the Chicken
Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour seasoned with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper; a second with beaten eggs and a splash of milk; and a third with panko mixed with a bit of salt and pepper. Dredge each piece of chicken in flour, dip into the egg wash, then press into the panko so it is fully coated.

Fry the Chicken
Heat oil in a large skillet to about 350°F (175°C). Fry two pieces at a time until golden brown and cooked through, about until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Drain on a cooling rack so the crust stays crisp.

Make the Texas Toast
Bake the Texas toast according to package directions. Add a slice of your chosen cheese to each piece and switch the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles — watch carefully to prevent burning.

Toss the Salad
Toss chopped romaine with crushed croutons, shaved Parmesan and the prepared Caesar dressing until evenly coated.

Assemble the Sandwich
Place the toasted bread pieces cheese-side up. Add a piece of fried chicken to the bottom slice, top with a generous portion of the dressed Caesar salad, then finish with the other slice of toast, cheese-side down. Serve immediately so the toast remains crisp and the salad stays fresh.
